In South Korea, all able-bodied men between 18 to 28 are required to enrol in the military for 2 years in compulsory military enlistment.
On 25th February, Chanyeol wrote and shared a heartfelt letter to his Exo fans community opening about his feelings and expressing his gratitude to them. He thanked them for supporting him and causing his fans to be concerned because of his radio silence, he apologised for it. He even thanked them for their birthday wishes and for standing by him since his debut. He then went on to promise not to let fans down again and to live up to their perceptions of him.
It was the first time Chanyeol opened up to his fans after four months when he was in the middle of controversy where accusations were made about his personal life by his girlfriend. His girlfriend accused him of cheating on her with 10 people, even made a statement about never to contact her and wished people would know how bad he is.
