BMW’s Vision Neue Klasse Concept at Munich Motor Show 2023

BMW has unveiled its Vision Neue Klasse concept car at the Munich Motor Show 2023, which showcases the future of electric mobility for the German automaker. The concept car is based on a new platform that is designed specifically for EVs and will spawn a new range of BMW electric vehicles starting from 2025.
The Vision Neue Klasse, which means “new class” in German, is a homage to the legendary BMW 02 series that was launched in the 1960s and revolutionized the sports sedan segment. The concept car features a sleek and futuristic design with a minimalist and monolithic appearance. The front end is dominated by a large horizontal grille with integrated LED lights, while the side profile shows a long bonnet, short overhangs, and 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear end has a stubby and angled shape with slim taillights and a fresh BMW logo.
The interior of the Vision Neue Klasse is spacious and luxurious, with a focus on sustainability and digital technology. The dashboard is dominated by a tall touchscreen display that works in tandem with a panoramic vision head-up display that projects information onto the windshield. The cabin also features black leatherette upholstery with grey stitching, a piano black dashboard, and a steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls.
The Vision Neue Klasse is powered by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology, which consists of a battery pack, an electric motor, and an electronic control unit. The battery pack is located under the floor and has a high energy density and fast charging capability. The electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and delivers high performance and efficiency. The electronic control unit manages the power delivery and optimizes the driving dynamics.
BMW claims that the Vision Neue Klasse offers a 30 percent increase in range and a 25 percent improvement in efficiency compared to its existing EVs. The concept car also has some advanced features such as real-time translation, voice recognition, and image processing, thanks to BMW’s own Tensor G3 processor that powers its next-generation devices.
The Vision Neue Klasse is expected to be the second in a new range of BMW EVs that will be based on the new platform. The first one will be the iX SUV that will be launched in 2024. The new platform will allow BMW to offer different body styles, sizes, and performance levels for its EVs. BMW aims to have at least 10 fully electric models by 2025 and achieve 50 percent of its global sales from EVs by 2030.
The Vision Neue Klasse is one of the highlights of the Munich Motor Show 2023, which is being held from September 2 to September 12. The show features various exhibits and events related to mobility, innovation, and sustainability. The show also showcases other electric vehicles from different manufacturers, such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Tesla.
