Comparing Tata Nexon and Nexon EV: Price, Features & more

The facelifted Nexon and Nexon EV will be launched in India on September 14, 2023. The bookings for both models will open on September 9, 2023, and customers can book their preferred model with a token amount of Rs 10,000 at any Tata Motors dealership or online. The deliveries are expected to start soon after the launch across the country.
The Nexon and the Nexon EV are two of the most popular SUVs in their respective segments, offering a blend of style, features, performance and value. The facelifted models have further enhanced their appeal with new design elements and features. The Nexon EV also boasts of being the best-selling electric car in India, with over 10,000 units sold since its launch in January 2020. With the new updates, both models are set to attract more buyers and give a tough competition to their rivals.
Design
The Nexon and the Nexon EV have received a major design overhaul inspired by the Curvv concept that was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Both models sport a new front fascia with a split headlamp setup, a large grille with a thick plastic bar, and a faux silver skid plate. The Nexon EV has some distinctive elements such as a full-width LED light band that runs across the nose and shows the charging status, a single-tone body-coloured finish for the upper portion of the grille, and a slatted design for the lower grille and headlamp housings.

The side profile of both models remains largely unchanged, except for the new design of the alloy wheels that are identical on both models. The rear end also gets a makeover with connected LED tail lamps, a pronounced roof-mounted spoiler, and a chunky bumper with contrasting black and silver trims. The Nexon EV also gets a ‘.ev’ badge at the rear and two exclusive colour options – Empowered Oxide and Intensi Teal.

Features
The interior of both models gets an all-new dashboard with multiple textures and materials such as carbon fibre-like trim, soft touch materials, and piano black surfaces. The centre console houses a new touchscreen infotainment system that varies in size depending on the model and variant. The Nexon EV gets a larger 12.3-inch screen on the top-spec Empowered trim, while the Nexon gets a 10.25-inch screen on the top-spec Intense trim. Both systems come with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Harman sound system, voice recognition, navigation, and reverse camera.
The Nexon EV also gets some exclusive features such as an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, all-wheel disc brakes, OTA updates, connected car features as standard, Arcade.ev app suite that lets you stream OTT platforms or play games, and a welcome and goodbye animation by the front LED DRLs. Both models get features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, hill descent control, traction control, cruise control, sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, push-button start-stop, keyless entry, rear AC vents, and rear armrest.

Both engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The Nexon offers three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport – that alter the engine response and performance. The Nexon EV has an ARAI-certified range of 312km on a single charge and can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 60 minutes using a fast charger or in 8.5 hours using a regular charger.
