Kawasaki, the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, is planning to launch its new sports bike, the Kawasaki ZX-4R, in India soon. The Kawasaki ZX-4R is a mid-sized version of the Kawasaki ZX-10R, which is the flagship model of the company. The Kawasaki ZX-4R will offer a powerful performance, agile handling, and attractive design to the Indian bike enthusiasts.
The Kawasaki ZX-4R is expected to be priced at around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) in India and will compete with the likes of Honda CBR650R, Suzuki GSX-S750, and Yamaha MT-07 in the segment. The Kawasaki ZX-4R will be available in two colour options: Metallic Spark Black and Lime Green.
Here are the details about the Kawasaki ZX-4R that you need to know before buying it.
Design and Features
The Kawasaki ZX-4R has a sleek and sporty design with a sharp LED headlight, a digital instrument cluster, a windscreen, a split seat, a tail light with integrated indicators, and an underbelly exhaust. The bike has a lightweight trellis frame that gives it a kerb weight of 165 kg. The bike also has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres and a ground clearance of 140 mm.
The bike features a 4.3-inch TFT display that can display various information such as speed, rpm, gear position, fuel level, odometer, trip meter, clock, etc. The display also supports Bluetooth connectivity and can sync with the user’s smartphone via the Kawasaki Rideology app. The app can provide features such as navigation, call and message notifications, ride data recording, etc.
The bike also features a keyless ignition system that can start the bike without any physical contact. The bike also features an assist and slipper clutch that can reduce the clutch lever effort and prevent wheel hop during downshifts.
Performance and Engine
The Kawasaki ZX-4R is powered by a 399 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that can produce 49 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 38 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission with a quick shifter that can enable clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
The bike has four riding modes: Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider. The Sport mode offers the maximum power and throttle response, while the Road mode offers a balance between performance and fuel efficiency. The Rain mode reduces the power and throttle response to suit wet conditions. The Rider mode allows the user to customize the power delivery, traction control, ABS level, etc.
The bike has an electronic throttle valve system that can adjust the intake air volume and fuel injection according to the riding conditions and preferences. The bike also has a dual throttle valve system that can optimize the intake air pressure and flow for better combustion efficiency and performance.
The bike has an estimated fuel economy of 25 kmpl in city conditions and 30 kmpl on highways.
Safety and Suspension
The Kawasaki ZX-4R has disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels that can provide effective braking performance. The bike also has anti-lock braking system (ABS) that can prevent wheel lock-up and skidding during emergency braking.
The bike has inverted telescopic forks on the front and a horizontal back-link mono-shock on the rear that can provide a comfortable ride quality on different road conditions. The suspension system also has adjustable preload and rebound damping settings that can suit different rider preferences and styles.
The bike also has traction control system (TCS) that can prevent wheel spin and loss of traction on slippery surfaces. The TCS also has three levels of intervention that can be selected according to the riding mode or manually by the user.
