Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid Enhances Safety, Prices Increased
Maruti Suzuki has recently released a significant safety update for the hybrid models of the Grand Vitara. According to the company’s regulatory filing, the vehicles will now be equipped with the ‘Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System’ (AVAS), a feature designed to enhance pedestrian safety.
The AVAS feature is specifically designed to alert both drivers and pedestrians of an approaching vehicle. When activated, the system emits an audible sound alert, making it noticeable to pedestrians and other motorists within a range of five feet from the vehicle.
In light of this safety enhancement, the prices of all Grand Vitara hybrid variants have been increased by up to Rs. 4,000, effective from 17 July 2023. The hybrid models are available in Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus variants, featuring dual-tone paint options. The prices for these variants now start at Rs. 18.49 lakh and Rs. 19.84 lakh, ex-showroom, respectively.
The Grand Vitara hybrid version is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, paired with an electric motor and a battery pack. The petrol engine generates 91bhp and 122Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes an additional 79bhp. Combined, the hybrid powertrain offers an output of 114bhp and is mated to an e-CVT unit.
Maruti Suzuki’s introduction of the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System highlights the company’s commitment to enhancing safety features in their vehicles, particularly in the context of pedestrian protection. The AVAS feature serves as an innovative addition to the Grand Vitara hybrid lineup, ensuring a safer and more aware driving experience for all.
