MG Motor India, a subsidiary of the Chinese automaker SAIC Motor, is gearing up to launch its latest SUV, the MG Astor Black Edition, in India on September 6, 2023. The MG Astor Black Edition is a special variant of the MG Astor, which is the Indian version of the MG ZS that is sold in other markets. The MG Astor Black Edition will offer a distinctive black-themed exterior and interior, along with some exclusive features and specifications.

The MG Astor Black Edition will be available in two variants: Super and Sharp. The Super variant will be priced at Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Sharp variant will be priced at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Astor Black Edition will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and others in the compact SUV segment.

Here are the details about the MG Astor Black Edition that you need to know before its launch.

Exterior and Interior

The MG Astor Black Edition will sport a sleek and stylish design with a blacked-out theme. The exterior will feature a glossy black grille with chrome accents, LED headlights with DRLs, LED fog lamps, LED tail lights, black roof rails, black ORVMs, black door handles, black window line, black skid plates, and black alloy wheels. The SUV will also have a panoramic sunroof, a shark fin antenna, and a rear spoiler.

The interior of the MG Astor Black Edition will have a premium and spacious cabin with a black and red colour scheme. The interior will feature leather seats with red stitching, leather steering wheel with red accents, leather gear knob with red highlights, red ambient lighting, and red floor mats. The SUV will also have a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, an air purifier, and a 360-degree camera.

Performance and Safety

The MG Astor Black Edition will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that can produce 140 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The SUV will also have three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.

The MG Astor Black Edition will have a host of safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, rear view camera, and more.

The MG Astor Black Edition will also have some advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, and more.

The MG Astor Black Edition will be launched in India on September 6 at 12 noon via an online event that will be live-streamed on the company’s official website, YouTube channel, Facebook page, Twitter handle, and Instagram account.
