Tesla Announces Recall of 16,000 Model S and Model X Vehicles for Seat Belt Issue

Tesla is issuing a recall affecting approximately 16,000 Model S and Model X units due to a seat belt concern. The recall applies to specific 2021-2023 Model S and Model X vehicles, where there is a potential issue with the front-row seat belts not being adequately connected to the pre-tensioner anchors, which could result in detachment.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has warned of a risk of detachment if the first-row seat belt is not properly connected to its pre-tensioner anchor. Tesla has taken this matter seriously and has committed to conducting inspections and ensuring that the seat belts are correctly connected to the pre-tensioner anchors.
If required, Tesla will replace the entire assembly at no cost to the affected customers. As of June 19, there have been 12 warranty claims related to this seat belt issue, but fortunately, there have been no reports of any accidents, injuries, or fatalities related to this problem.
Additionally, Tesla is also conducting a smaller recall impacting 1,337 units of the 2023 Model S, Model X, and Model Y vehicles. This recall concerns the forward-facing camera, which may be misaligned and could potentially disable certain active safety features like emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane assist without alerting the driver.
Although 83 warranty claims and two field reports are associated with the camera misalignment issue, there have been no reported incidents of injuries, fatalities, or crashes related to this matter.Tesla intends to resolve the camera misalignment problem by adjusting the pitch angle of the cameras on the affected vehicles.
It is worth mentioning that Tesla often prefers to address recalls through Over-the-Air software updates, as advocated by CEO Elon Musk. He believes that many vehicle issues can be resolved through software updates, providing a convenient and efficient solution for customers.
