The general-secretary of Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai has said that Ram Temple that is being constructed in the city of Ayodhya is likely to be done in three years time. On Sunday, Rai said, ” The Ram Temple will be built in two and half acres with a wall around it, called Parkota. Retaining walls are to be built inside the ground to prevent flood effects. This work will be completed in three years and with the preparation in mind, we are doing the work.”
Addressing a press conference, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) national vice-president Rai has said Rajasthan has a donated the most in Samarpan for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. “Jodhpur, Jaipur and Chittor collectively contributed Rs.500 crores for the construction which itself is quite the deal”, said Rai during the conference. Around 36,000 villages in Rajasthan with about 9 lakh workers were contacted. This campaign was monitored from 49 centres in India with 38,125 workers given the responsibility to deposit the money in the bank.
He added that figures for each state will be revealed soon as lot of paperwork connected to the construction of the temple in Ayodhya is done. Earlier on Saturday, he said the door-to-door collection drive for the construction has stopped, but devotees who missed the contribution can still make donation through the trust’s website. Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has been given the task of Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya.
While the construction of a grand Ram temple has begun in the holy town of Ayodhya, the devotees will not be able to watch the process with their own eyes. Rai said that the construction will engage big cranes and stone crushing machines which increases the chance of accidents at the site. He concluded Ram devotees will not be able to see the construction due to security reasons. He went on to say devotees will be allowed to watch the construction work from a certain point but this won’t be possible now. The trust will keep updating the progress of the construction.
Engineering and Construction company- Larsen & Toubro has begun the Temple construction work. The work of filling the foundation of the proposed model will start in April. The first floor of the temple is going to come up in the next one and a half year. The remaining two floors taking another 18 months for completion with another few months for finishing work. As per Ayodhya Temple Trustee Anil Mishra, the proposed model of Ram Temple will be bigger than the Somnath Temple and any of the Akshardham Temples.
