53rd Kerala Film Awards: Mammootty Best Actor, Vincy Aloshious Best Actress

The 53rd Kerala State Film Awards were announced, and the Minister for Cultural Affairs, Saji Cheriyan, revealed the winners on Friday (July 21). A total of 154 films were submitted for the awards, and after a thorough screening process by a jury led by Bengali filmmaker Goutam Ghose, 30 films made it to the final round.
Superstar Mammootty received the Best Actor award for his exceptional performance in the film ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam,’ directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The movie revolves around a character named James, who wakes up as Sundaram. This marks Mammootty’s sixth Kerala State Film Award win.
Young actress Vincy Aloshious won the Best Actress award for her strong portrayal in the film ‘Rekha,’ which portrays a woman fighting against injustice.The race for the Best Actor award also featured Kunchacko Boban, who received a Special Jury award for his impressive performance as Kozhummal Rajeevan in the film ‘Nna Than Case Kodu.’ He shared the Special Jury mention with Alencier Ley Lopez for the film ‘Appan.’
