The highly anticipated film “Kerala Story” has become the center of a political controversy, with objections raised over its content. Even the ruling party in Kerala has criticized the film, calling it propaganda for the Sangh Parivar. The film is set to release in three days, with required sensor formalities recently completed and an A certificate granted by the Central Board of Film Certification.

The plot reportedly centers on former Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, who raised the topic of love jihad and alleged that many girls were sent to ISIS. Removing the interview from the film would diminish its significance, as it is integral to the story’s premise.

Communist and Congress party leaders in Kerala are seeking to halt the film’s screening, and a petition was filed in the Supreme Court to stop its release. However, the court denied the request, citing the film’s certification and the importance of freedom of expression.

The controversy stems from the film’s focus on love jihad and the forced conversion of women to Islam. Critics argue that the film will misrepresent the reality of the situation.

Written and directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, “Kerala Story” stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in key roles. The film is based on the alleged recruitment of 32,000 girls into ISIS.
