iQoo 12, the first smartphone in India to sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, is set to launch soon. The iQoo 12 series will also debut globally after its China launch. The series is likely to have two variants, but only the standard model will be available in India.

iQoo 12: Key features

The iQoo 12 will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which was unveiled at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2023. The chipset boasts a new 1-5-2 microarchitecture with five gold cores and a dedicated display processor that enables hardware-accelerated ray-tracing.

iQoo has been partnering with BMW M Motorsport for its previous models, and this will continue with the iQOO 12. There will be a special “Legend Edition Inspired by BMW M Motorsport” that will have custom themes and BMW M stripes on the back.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: What’s new

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is Qualcomm’s latest flagship Mobile Platform that offers improved performance, power efficiency, and gaming capabilities. The Kryo CPU delivers 30% more performance and 20% more power efficiency. The Adreno GPU offers 25% better performance and power efficiency with 40% better Ray Tracing.

The platform also supports Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing, and Unreal Engine 5.2 for realistic, multi-source lighting. The Qualcomm AI Engine supports multi-modal generative AI models on-device.

The platform also comes with the Snapdragon X75 5G Modem RF System, which has an integrated AI tensor hardware accelerator for faster speeds, better coverage, and more accurate location.

The platform also supports Wi-Fi 7 and dual Bluetooth connectivity for uninterrupted immersion, thanks to the new Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System.
