Are humans still evolving?
By The News Voice
Many of us have questions like whether modern humans are still evolving or whether we have stepped out of the path of natural selection.
There are some aruguments about the theory of evolution. But yes, Evolution is an ongoing process, although many don’t realize that people are still evolving.
From what we eat to how we use our bodies, our actions and who we choose to have kids with are just some of the many factors that can cause the human body to change, that is evolution.
we are not only still evolving but we're doing it even faster than before. In the last 10,000 years, the pace of our evolution has sped up, creating more mutations in our genes.
Genetic mutations lead to new traits and because of the rising population, the chances of genetic mutations that natural selection can potentially act on is only increasing.
History
We can already see some signs of how humans are evolving or changing. here are some clues
In a 2015 study, scientists hypothesized that that the bones of humans are getting weaker in the last 12 thousand years because settled farming, change in diet, physical activity changed, and, in turn, our skeletons became lighter and more fragile.
In a study, scientists have concluded that our brains are shrinking from the last 30,000 years. Another example would be that some of us have blue eyes because of a genetic mutation which hppened some 10000 years ago.
Evolution means change in a population. That includes both easy-to-spot changes to adapting to an environment as well as more subtle changes like genetic changes.
