Changes in Moles
BY: The News Voice
Moles are small dark spots found on the skin. Most people have moles and in fact, some are born with them.
Most moles aren't really something to worry about due to their harmless nature. They sometimes add to a person's beauty, hence the name beauty spots.
Although certain changes in mole are normal, some other kind of changes may be a cause for concern
They may disappear, fade or even get thicker as one ages.
During pregnancy, moles may get slightly darker and all these are normal changes.
Children and young adults, when exposed to sunlight, may also experience an increase in mole growth
When a mole begins to have more than two colours, special attention needs to be given
If you notice that your mole is beginning to bleed, itch, or swell, you should go for a check-up.
Maybe you notice the appearance of new moles with a different shape, massive size, uneven colour, or irregular border, you should get a biopsy done
Certain variations in moles are actually signs of skin cancer, don't overlook them
We need to look out for ABCD parameters; Asymmetry, Border, Color and Diameter, by the American Cancer Society to identify any suspicious mole.
