Yoga for Thyroid: Effective Asanas

Managing and controlling thyroid with Yoga asanas

A stressful life can contribute to thyroid disorders, and practicing yoga asanas can help manage them. Yoga keeps thyroid glands healthy and regulates metabolism.

The yoga poses that are mentioned here aim at energizing the throat area and improve blood circulation around neck area.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand)

This asana helps in maintaining the endocrine system by applying the pressure on the thyroid gland when you balance your entire body on shoulders.

Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)

This is an effective asana as it stretches the neck and improves blood circulation in the thyroid gland which has the largest blood supply.

Matsyasana (Fish Pose)

This pose arches your back to stimulate your thyroid gland and to relieve the tension in your neck. This also increases the blood circulation.

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

This yoga asana also stretches the neck and throat regions and in turn increases thyroid functioning. Make sure you only stretch into a comfortable position.

Halasana (Plough Pose)

This asana helps activate butterfly gland along with the strengthening of back muscles. It also tones abdominal glands and relaxes nervous system.

Dhanurasana (Bow Pose)

This helps massage the thyroid gland, which acts as a powerful treatment for hypothyroidism. This is possible because of the stimulation of hormone production.

You need to keep in mind no yoga can cure thyroid permanently. This shouldn't be a cause of worry because ultimately you function better.
