CAUSES

Nocturnal breathing problem has symptoms like chest tightness, shortness of breath, cough and wheezing at night. Some of the causes are-

Asthma

It occurs due to inflammation in your lungs. Asthma can also get triggered by gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

COPD causes blocked or narrowed airways that make breathing more difficult. Smoking and exposure to harm chemicals can cause COPD.

Pneumonia

It can develop because of a virus, bacteria or fungi. Seek medical attention if you have high fever.

Heart Failure

Conditions that affect your heart can interfere with its ability to pump blood.

Sleep Apnea

This condition occurs during sleep and causes narrowing airways and a low oxygen level.

Allergies

Your environment may contain allergens like dust, mold that trigger your allergy symptoms.

Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Feeling anxious can trigger a panic attack. You may struggle to breath, feel faint or become nauseous.

There is no cure for some breathing problems but some medications help with a few symptoms.
