Period Comedy K-drama Mr. Queen: Review

A hilarious body swap and political comedy-drama, Mr. Queen had the well-balanced plotline for a historical drama is a must-watch for 2021.


One of the highest rated drama in Korean Television industry was aired on December 12, 2020 to February 14, 2021 with lead starring from Shin Hye-sun and Kim Jung-hyun.


This fantasy Time travel fusion  is based on the original Chinese web drama Go Princess Go, Is about a modern man who is transported back in time in a Queen's body.


In a modern time, Jang Bong-hwan (Choi Jin-hyuk) is a chef who works at the Blue House But he is transported  in the body of Queen Cheorin (Shin Hye-sun) in the Joseon period.


King Cheoljong (Kim Jung-hyun), the reigning monarch. The king looks friendly and easy going but secretly is suspicious and has mysterious personality.


As the queen quickely discovers that the real power is in this hands of queen dowager and  the kings in a puppet king.



Shin Hye Sun performance is simply outstanding, she was made for this role. Kim Jung Hyun also did a fantastic job. Their chemistry is amazing, made the show interesting.


Mr. Queen was tangled in many controversies with the viewers. As reportedly the original author made negative comments about south Korea, Other issues were also raised. The production team issues apology as well.


The drama is the 7th highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history, with the last episode reaching a nationwide rating of 17.371% and garnering more than 4 million in viewership.
