Present day shaving creams don't compare to traditional shaving soaps. Moreover, the packaging used for shaving creams is bad for the environment.
This natural soap is not only environment friendly but also cost effective so you save money in the long run.
Shaving soaps increase hydration and allow closer shave. Times changed and women shave too and one can never be too careful with skin products.
- castor oil - refined coconut oil - lanolin - pomace olive oil - shea butter - neem oil - distilled water - lye/ sodium hydroxide - essential oils (patchouli, lavender)
- wear eye protection - gloves and long sleeves - Use heat safe containers - Avoid aluminum utensils
Weigh your lye and dissolve it in the distilled water. Next weigh your carrier oils, lanolin, shea butter and heat them in a microwave or medium heat on stove.
While you wait for the mixtures to cool, weigh your essential oils and set them aside. When cooled to 90 F, mix them using immersion blender and add the essentials oils once it has light trace.
When the soap batter reaches to medium trace, pour into the mold of your choice. Cover it with cling wrap and set it aside for 1-2 days. Allow it to cure for 4-6 weeks before use.
Alternatively, you can make shaving creams with natural items...If you prefer them!!
