Things You Should Know About Ramadan

The holy month of Ramadan is observed by at least a billion Muslims around the world which began on Tuesday on 12th April. Here are few things you should know about Ramzan.


In the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is the ninth month where Muslims worldwide observes fast for a month.This annual fasting is regarded as a one of the five pillers of Islam.


In 2021, Ramadan will start on Monday, April 12 or Tuesday, April 13 and last through Tuesday, May 11.


It is believed that the month of Ramadan is  the month in which Mohammad, whom Muslims consider a prophet, revealed the holy book of Quran to Muslims.


For the 30 days that make up Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset and are encouraged to empathize with the less fortunate and increase their acts of worship.


Ramadan is a fast from food, water, bad deeds, smoking, and more. and You could be fasting for 11 hours or 20 hours, depending on where you live. 


During Ramadan, Muslims rise before the sun to eat a meal called suhoor or sehri and prey during the first five hours of after the sunrise.


Dates are traditionally the first thing eaten at iftar. They are eaten before you break fast with a glass of water. This tradition followed all around the world.


Generally Muslims begin fasting at a young age. Children are encouraged to start fasting at the tender age of 10 years.
